The Chief Ombudsman has to try to make arrangements with hapū, iwi, and Māori organisations. You will see these arrangements are for two main purposes: to help Ombudsmen with complaints and investigations as stated in section 39, and to share information under this Act. The Chief Ombudsman must make reasonable efforts to develop these arrangements.

Other laws that apply to sharing information are not affected by these arrangements. This means that the Chief Ombudsman still has to follow other laws when sharing information. You can think of it like the Chief Ombudsman having to follow multiple rules at the same time.
