Illustration for Broadcasting Act 1989

You need to tell the Electoral Commission if you think your party will get some of the money for election programmes and advertisements. You must do this in writing and by a certain date, which is specified under section 75(1). Your notice must include your party's full name and contact details. You also need to include the contact details of the person giving the notice and their role. If the secretary of your party is not giving the notice, you must include their contact details as well. Your notice must say whether your party is registered, has applied to be registered, or plans to apply to be registered on the Register of Political Parties. Your notice should also mention any relationships your party has with other parties in New Zealand. You must say if your party plans to submit a list under section 127 of the Electoral Act 1993 for the general election. This information will help the Electoral Commission decide how to allocate money to parties.
