Consumer Guarantees Act 1993

Right of redress against manufacturers in respect of supply of goods - Right of redress against manufacturers

25: Circumstances where consumers have right of redress against manufacturers

You could also call this:

“When you can ask the maker of a product to fix problems with it”

This part of the law gives you, as a consumer, the right to seek redress from a manufacturer of goods in certain situations. You can do this when:

The goods don’t meet the acceptable quality standard as outlined in section 6 of the act.

The goods don’t match the description given by or agreed to by the manufacturer, as explained in section 9.

The goods don’t meet the guarantee for repairs and parts as described in section 12.

The goods fail to meet any express guarantee given by the manufacturer during the time the guarantee is valid, as set out in section 14.

These rights apply when the goods fail to meet these standards or guarantees. It’s important to know that you have these rights to help protect you when you buy goods that don’t live up to what you were promised.
