When the Minister of Conservation wants to prepare, issue, change, review, or revoke a New Zealand coastal policy statement under section 57 of the Resource Management Act 1991, you need to know they must ask for and think about the views of the customary marine title groups recorded on the register. The Minister has to do this as part of their process. You can find more information about this process in the relevant legislation.
