When you apply for a recognition order, your application must state what you are applying for. You need to say if you want recognition of a protected customary right, or of customary marine title, or both. You must describe the right you are applying for and the group that is making the application. You have to identify the area of the common marine and coastal area that your application is about. You must state why you are making the application and name a person to represent your group. This person will hold the order if your application is successful. Your application must include contact details for your group and the person who will hold the order. It must also be supported by an affidavit that explains why your group is entitled to the recognition order. Your application must contain any other information required by regulations made under section 118(1)(i).
