When you apply for a recognition order, you must tell the public about it within 20 working days. You do this by giving public notice, which must include your group's name and a brief description of what you are applying for. You also need to describe the area of the coast or sea that your application is about. You must include other details in the public notice, such as who will be in charge of the order if it is granted. If you are applying for a protected customary right, you need to describe what that right is. The public notice must also tell people how and by when they can give their support or opposition to your application. The date for people to file their support or opposition must be at least 20 working days after the public notice is first published.
