When you apply for a resource consent in an area where groups are seeking customary marine title, you must follow some rules. You need to tell the groups about your application and ask for their views. You must also keep a record of what they say and how it affects your application. If you do not include this information, the consent authority will return your application as incomplete, following the rules set out in section 88 of the Resource Management Act 1991. You will be required to provide a list of the groups you notified and describe how their views influenced your application.
