126Giving of notices
If a notice or other document is to be given or served on a person under this Act, it must be given in writing—
- by personal service; or
- by registered post addressed to the person at the person's usual or last known place of business or residence; or
- by service on the person's lawyer or another person authorised to act on behalf of that person; or
- by registered post to that other person; or
- by electronic transmission to the person or that person's lawyer or another person authorised to act on behalf of that person, including transmission by fax, electronic mail, or electronic data transfer.
A notice or document sent by post or registered post is deemed to have been given or received 7 days after the date on which it was posted, unless the person to whom it was sent proves that, other than through that person's fault, the notice or document was not received.
