Residential Tenancies Act 1986

Tenancy agreements - Key money, bonds, and rents

21: Tenant may pay bond direct to chief executive with landlord's consent

You could also call this:

"Paying your bond directly to the government with your landlord's okay"

Illustration for Residential Tenancies Act 1986

You can pay your bond directly to the chief executive if your landlord agrees. You must fill out a statement of particulars in the approved form when you make this payment. The chief executive will then deposit the money into the Residential Tenancies Trust Account. The chief executive gives you a written receipt with details like the address of the premises and the amount paid. They also give your landlord a copy of this receipt. This receipt shows the date the chief executive got the payment. You can find more information about this in section 19 and section 20. The chief executive follows these steps when you pay your bond directly to them. This is how the process works when you pay your bond this way.
