The Governor-General can make rules for the Parole Act. You need to know what these rules are about. The rules can be about things like what forms to use, how to work out key dates for prison sentences, and what information offenders should get.

The Governor-General can also make rules about how the Parole Board works. You might want to know that the rules can include fines of up to $500 for people who break them. The Governor-General can make rules for other things that are necessary for the Parole Act to work properly, including Part 1A.

The rules made by the Governor-General are called secondary legislation, which means they are a type of law. If you want to learn more about secondary legislation, you can look at Part 3 of the Legislation Act 2019.
