If you are given an extended supervision order, you must follow some standard conditions. You have to report to a probation officer in the area where you live within 72 hours of the order starting. You also have to report to a probation officer when they ask you to, and tell them where you live and work.

You need to get a probation officer's written consent before you move to a new address. If you do move, you have to report to a probation officer in your new area within 72 hours. You cannot live at an address that a probation officer has told you not to live at.

You are not allowed to leave New Zealand without a probation officer's written consent. A probation officer can also ask you to give them biometric information, like fingerprints. You have to get a probation officer's written consent before you change jobs.

You cannot work in a job that a probation officer has told you not to do. You may have to take part in a needs assessment to help you rehabilitate and reintegrate into society. You are not allowed to associate with or contact people under 16, except with a probation officer's approval and in the presence of a suitable adult.

You are not allowed to associate with or contact victims of your offending without a probation officer's approval. You also cannot associate with or contact people that a probation officer has specifically told you not to contact. When it says "contact", it means communicating with someone in any way, like by phone or internet.

The rules about associating with people under 16 apply to extended supervision orders made before and after the commencement of section 17 of the Parole (Extended Supervision Orders) Amendment Act 2014.
