Dog Control Act 1996

Registration and registration fees

38: Registration fee for certain dogs registered on or after 2 August

You could also call this:

"Lower dog registration fees for dogs registered after 2 August"

If you register a dog on or after 2 August, the council might reduce the registration fee. This can happen if the dog is less than 3 months old on or after 2 August. It can also happen if the dog is imported into New Zealand for the first time on or after 2 August.

To calculate the reduced fee, you divide the full-year registration fee by 12. Then you multiply that amount by the number of complete months left in the registration year. This gives you the fee you need to pay for the dog.
