Dog Control Act 1996

Menacing dogs

33EC: Offence to fail to comply with section 33E(1) or 33EB

You could also call this:

"Breaking dog rules can cost you up to $3,000 and mean losing your dog."

If you fail to comply with section 33E(1) or 33EB, you commit an offence and can be fined up to $3,000. You must follow these rules to avoid trouble with the law. If you do not comply, a dog control officer or dog ranger can take your dog away from you.

A dog control officer or dog ranger can keep your dog until you show you will follow the rules in section 33E(1) or 33EB. They can also keep your dog until it is disposed of under section 71A. This means you might not get your dog back if you do not follow the rules.
