You can find a list of organisations that can certify dogs as disability assist dogs.
These organisations are listed in Schedule 5 of the Dog Control Act 1996, which is empowered by sections 2 and 78D.
They include Assistance Dogs New Zealand and Hearing Dogs for Deaf People New Zealand.
You will also see K9 Medical Detection New Zealand and Mobility Assistance Dogs Trust on the list.
Other organisations on the list are New Zealand Epilepsy Assist Dogs Trust and Pawsible Service Dogs.
Perfect Partners Assistance Dogs Trust and Royal New Zealand Foundation of the Blind Incorporated are also there.
All these organisations are allowed to certify dogs as disability assist dogs, as stated in the Dog Control Act 1996, which you can read more about in sections 2 and 78D by following the links to ss 2 and 78D.
