Weights and Measures Act 1987

Stamping, verification, and approval of weights and measures

22A: Certificate of accuracy

You could also call this:

“This explains how to get a certificate that shows your weights and measures are correct”

You can get a certificate of accuracy for weights, measures, or weighing or measuring instruments. An accredited person or an Inspector can give you this certificate. They will check and test the item to make sure it follows the rules.

The certificate will say that an accredited person or an Inspector has checked the item. It will also say that the item follows the rules set by the government.

There are different types of certificates for different items. Some certificates might be labels that you stick on the weight, measure, or instrument.

These certificates don’t last forever. They will be good for a certain amount of time, which is set by the government rules.

Remember, these certificates don’t apply to machines that weigh things automatically or machines that give out liquids automatically.
