Weights and Measures Act 1987

Administration - Accredited persons

30A: Appointment of accredited persons

You could also call this:

“How the Secretary allows people to check and approve weights and measures”

The Secretary can give a letter to someone saying they can be an accredited person. This means the person can do two things: put a special mark on weights, measures, and weighing or measuring tools to show they are correct, and give out certificates that say these things are accurate.

If the accredited person isn’t a real person (like a company), the letter will list the names of real people who will do the work for that company. The law will treat these people as if they were accredited themselves.

The Secretary can set rules about what the accredited person is allowed to do. They might only be allowed to work with certain types of weights, measures, or tools.

If a company is accredited, they can ask the Secretary to change the list of people who can do the work for them. They might have to pay a fee for this. The Secretary can add or remove names from this list.
