“List of official measurements used in New Zealand”
This part of the law lists the standard weights and measures that are used in New Zealand. You’ll see different tables that show the measurements for length, area, volume, weight, and carats.
For length, the standards range from as big as 100 metres down to as small as 10 millimetres. For area, it’s any multiple of 1 square decimetre. When it comes to volume, the standards start from 50 litres and go down to 1 millilitre, with some special measures for testing milk and cream bottles.
For weight, the standards begin at 1,000 kilograms and go all the way down to 0.1 milligrams. There’s also a separate table for carats, which are used to measure gems and precious stones. These range from 500 Carats Metric down to 0.01 Carat Metric.
