When the advisory committee wants to give advice to the Minister or create guidelines for the ethics committee, it must talk to certain people first. You are one of the people they might talk to, if the committee thinks it is a good idea. They also have to talk to government departments and agencies, and anyone else they think is relevant.

The committee has to discuss their ideas with these people before they can give advice or create guidelines. This is so they can get different views and make sure their advice or guidelines are well thought out. If the committee wants to issue guidelines to the ethics committee, they must also talk to the Minister about their proposed guidelines.
