The advisory committee helps the Minister make decisions about human assisted reproductive technology. You can think of human assisted reproductive technology as medical help people get to have a baby. The committee gives the Minister information, advice, and sometimes recommendations on things like donations of embryos, embryo splitting, and using cells or embryos from someone who has passed away. The committee also advises on getting proper consent from people and selecting embryos using special genetic tests, as well as bringing cells or embryos into or out of New Zealand.
