Freedom Camping Act 2011

Enforcement, miscellaneous, and transitional provisions - Enforcement officers

33A: Appointment of enforcement officers by chief executive or commissioner

You could also call this:

“Bosses can pick people to enforce camping rules”

The chief executive or the commissioner can choose people to be enforcement officers for this Act. They must give these officers written warrants. The warrants tell the officers what they can do and what they are responsible for. The warrants also say which specific offences the officers can deal with. The warrants list the areas where the officers can work. These areas include LINZ land, local authority areas (but only if the local authority agrees), and conservation land (but only if the Director-General agrees). The warrants explain all of this information clearly to the enforcement officers.
