27B: Form of infringement notices

You could also call this:

“What's on the ticket you get for breaking freedom camping rules”

When a person breaks a freedom camping rule, they might get an infringement notice. This notice is like a ticket that tells them they’ve done something wrong. The notice needs to have certain information on it:

You’ll see details about when and where you allegedly broke the rule, and what rule you broke. The notice will tell you how much money you need to pay as a fine. It will also say where you can pay this fine and by when you need to pay it.

The notice will explain a bit about a law called the Summary Proceedings Act 1957, and how it applies to what you’ve done. It will also tell you that you have the right to ask for a hearing if you don’t agree with the notice.

The notice will explain what happens if you don’t pay the fine or ask for a hearing. It will clearly state the consequences of not responding to the notice.

There might be other information on the notice too, if the rules say it needs to be there.

If there isn’t an official form for this notice, then it needs to look like the one shown in Schedule 2 of the Freedom Camping Act 2011.
