45A: Review of effect on homelessness of Self-contained Motor Vehicles Legislation Act 2023

You could also call this:

“Checking how new camping laws affect people without homes”

The Minister has to look at how the changes made by the Self-contained Motor Vehicles Legislation Act 2023 affect people who don’t have homes. You need to know that:

The Minister will write a report about what they find. This report might suggest changes to the Freedom Camping Act 2011 and the Plumbers, Gasfitters, and Drainlayers Act 2006.

The Minister must start looking into this no later than 2 years after the new law starts. They need to finish their report within 30 months of the law starting. Once the report is done, the Minister will give it to the House of Representatives as soon as they can.

When the law talks about the ‘amendment Act’, it means the Self-contained Motor Vehicles Legislation Act 2023. The ‘commencement date’ is when most of Part 1 of this new law starts working, except for some specific parts mentioned in section 2(1)(a)(i) to (iv) of the new law.
