The Governor-General can make rules for the Substance Addiction Act. You need to follow these rules when you are dealing with things like forms, records, and notices. The Governor-General can also say what substances are covered by this Act and make rules for other things that are needed to make the Act work.

The rules can apply to everyone or just to some people, like those in a particular treatment centre. The Governor-General can make rules for a specific group of patients or a specific place.

The rules made under this section are called secondary legislation, which means they are a type of law (see Part 3 of the Legislation Act 2019 for more information about how these laws are published).
