Part 2Assessment and treatment of persons suffering from severe substance addiction
Extension of compulsory status in case of patients with brain injuries
47Court may extend order
The court may, by order, extend the compulsory treatment order if satisfied that,—
- in relation to the patient, the criteria for compulsory treatment continue to be met; and
- there are reasonable grounds to believe that the patient suffers from a brain injury.
If a compulsory treatment order is extended under subsection (1), the order expires on the close of the 56th day after the date on which the order would, but for the extension, have expired.
The patient’s compulsory status continues until the extended order expires (subject to sections 34(4), 43, 48(2), and 75(6)).
