Compulsory treatment of patients
35Objective of compulsory treatment
The objective of compulsory treatment given to a patient is—
- to facilitate the stabilisation of the patient through medical treatment, including medically managed withdrawal; and
- if possible, to restore the patient’s capacity to make informed decisions about the patient’s treatment and to give the patient an opportunity to engage in voluntary treatment.
