The Governor-General can make rules to let a Registrar or Deputy Registrar delay paying a fee. You might need to delay paying a fee while waiting for a decision on an application. This can happen when you apply for something under section 157(1) or for a review under section 160. You do not have to pay a fee for some applications. The Governor-General's rules are a type of law called secondary legislation, which has its own publication requirements, as explained in Part 3 of the Legislation Act 2019. These rules help with how fees are paid, or not paid, in certain situations.
