Key provisions: What kinds of rates may be set?
19Targeted rate for water supply
A local authority may set a targeted rate in accordance with its funding impact statement for the quantity of water provided by the local authority.
A targeted rate under subsection (1) may be calculated—
- as a fixed charge per unit of water consumed or supplied; or
- according to a scale of charges.
Subsection (1) does not apply to Auckland Council.
In subsection (3), Auckland Council means the local authority established by section 6(1) of the Local Government (Auckland Council) Act 2009.
