Illustration for Local Government (Rating) Act 2002

The Minister must make a report about how local authorities rate educational establishments. You will see this report if the Minister reviews what local authorities did over at least two years. The Minister looks at how local authorities assessed rates for sewage disposal under section 9 for certain land, and how they remitted those rates.

The Minister must talk to other people when preparing the report, including the Minister responsible for Part 6 of the Education and Training Act 2020, the New Zealand Local Government Association Incorporated, and other organisations with an interest in the review.

The Minister presents the report to Parliament, and this is how you can find out what the Minister discovered about rating practices for educational establishments.
