Local Government (Rating) Act 2002

Replacement of rates and miscellaneous matters - Miscellaneous matters

134: Judge, etc, not interested merely by being ratepayer

You could also call this:

"Being a ratepayer doesn't stop Judges or Magistrates from working on a case"

Illustration for Local Government (Rating) Act 2002

If you are a Judge, Justice, or Community Magistrate, being a ratepayer does not mean you are interested in a case. You can still be involved in a case even if you have to pay rates. This is because your role in the case is based on your job, not on whether you pay rates or not.
