When a local authority sets rates, you need to know that some rates have a limit. The money collected from certain rates must not be more than 30% of all the money collected from rates in a year. These certain rates include uniform annual general charges set according to section 15, and targeted rates set on a uniform basis and calculated according to section 18(2) or clause 7 of Schedule 3. There is an exception for targeted rates that are only for water supply or sewage disposal, as the rule does not apply to these rates.
