52: Payment of rates

"How and where you can pay your council rates"

Illustration for Local Government (Rating) Act 2002

You can pay your rates at a public office of your local council. You can also pay them at other places that your council tells everyone about or lists on your rates invoice. Your council decides where else you can pay your rates.

You can pay your rates in different ways, as long as your council agrees to them. This means you need to check with your council to see what payment methods they accept. Your council gets to choose how you can pay your rates.
