Local Government (Rating) Act 2002

Rating information database and rates records - Notification of change in circumstances

36: Notification of change of name

You could also call this:

"Tell your council if you change your name and own a property"

Illustration for Local Government (Rating) Act 2002

If you own a property and your name is in the rating information database, you must tell your local council if you change your name. You only need to do this if your property is listed in the land transfer register and you have officially changed your name in that register. You have one month to tell your local council after you have registered your new name in the land transfer register. Your local council will then update the rating information database with your new name.
