The Public Service Act 2020 has a list of special chief executives. You can find this list in Schedule 5, which is empowered by s 51(3). This schedule tells you which chief executives are in charge of certain areas and which government department they work with.

There are a few chief executives listed, including the Chief Executive for the Government’s Response to the Royal Commission’s Report into Historical Abuse in Care, who works with the Public Service Commission. Another one is the Chief Executive for School Property, who works with the Ministry of Education.

You can see the full list of chief executives and the departments they work with in the table in Schedule 5.
