The Public Service Act 2020 has a list of special jobs called functional chief executives. You can find this list in Schedule 5, which is part of the Act. This schedule is empowered by s 51(3).
These functional chief executives work with different government departments. For example, the Chief Executive, Cyclone Recovery works with the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet. The Chief Executive for the Government’s Response to the Royal Commission’s Report into Historical Abuse in Care works with the Public Service Commission.
The Chief Executive for School Property works with the Ministry of Education. You can see the full list of functional chief executives and the departments they work with in the table in Schedule 5.
