The Governor-General can make changes to interdepartmental ventures by Order in Council. You might see changes when a venture is established or disestablished, or when its name is changed, and this is done by updating Part 4 of Schedule 2. If the departments involved in a venture change, or a department's name changes, the Governor-General updates Part 4 of Schedule 2 to reflect this.

When a new venture is established, the order must include the venture's name and list the departments responsible for its services or functions, known as the relevant departments. The order also updates Part 4 of Schedule 2 by removing certain words when a venture is established for the first time.

In this context, departments refers to government departments, agencies, the New Zealand Police, and the New Zealand Defence Force, as mentioned in section 32 and this section. An order made under this section is considered secondary legislation, and you can find out more about publication requirements in Part 3 of the Legislation Act 2019.
