Public Service Act 2020

Preliminary provisions - Provisions for operation of Act

7: Circumstances where section 6 does not apply

You could also call this:

"When section 6 of the law does not apply to certain situations."

Section 6 does not apply if the law with the reference says something different, or if the context of the law means it should be interpreted differently, or if a specific definition from the Legislation Act 2019 is used. You can find this definition in the Legislation Act 2019. The Governor-General can also decide that some or all of section 6 does not apply to a particular law by making an Order in Council.

If the Governor-General makes this order, it is called secondary legislation, which you can learn more about in Part 3 of the Legislation Act 2019.

The Governor-General's order is made under section 6, which you can read about in section 6.
