Local Government (Water Services Preliminary Arrangements) Act 2024

Watercare Services Limited - Effect of Watercare charter

84: Effect of charter

You could also call this:

"What the Watercare charter means and how it affects Watercare's rules and decisions."

The Watercare charter is binding on Watercare after it is made under section 77. You need to know that this means Watercare must follow the charter during the time it applies. The charter is like a set of rules that Watercare must obey.

If there is a disagreement between what the charter says and what Auckland Council's long-term plan says, the charter's rules win. This means that if the two documents say different things, Watercare must follow what the charter says.

When Watercare makes an agreement with a customer, the agreement must include certain information if the charter requires it, such as details about a customer compensation scheme.
