National Parks Act 1980

National parks - Establishment, exclusion of land from, and definition of parks

9: Acquisition of land for national parks

You could also call this:

"How the government can add land to national parks"

The Minister can get land for national parks in a few ways. They can do this if they think it's a good idea, after talking to some important people.

If the land belongs to someone else, the Minister can buy it or rent it. Sometimes, people might even give the land as a gift. The Minister can also take the land if it's needed for the park, just like they can for other big projects.

Any land the Minister gets this way becomes part of the national park. If they're renting the land, it follows the rules for national parks while they're renting it.
