National Parks Act 1980

National Parks and Reserves Authority

18A: Minister to consult Authority in respect of access notice under Crown Minerals Act 1991

You could also call this:

"Minister must check with park experts before allowing mining in national parks"

When someone wants to access a national park for mining activities, they need to ask for permission. They do this by sending a notice to the Minister. The Minister is a person in the government who makes important decisions.

The law says that when the Minister gets this notice, they must talk to the National Parks and Reserves Authority about it. The Authority is a group of people who help look after national parks. The Minister needs to do this as soon as they can after they get the notice.

This rule helps make sure that decisions about accessing national parks for mining are made carefully, with input from people who know a lot about protecting these special places.
