National Parks Act 1980

National parks - Establishment, exclusion of land from, and definition of parks

16: Plans of national parks

You could also call this:

"The Chief Surveyor keeps updated maps of national parks for you to see"

The Chief Surveyor has to make sure that up-to-date plans of national parks and special areas within them are available for you to see. You can look at these plans for free during normal office hours at the Chief Surveyor's office. The plans are also kept at the Director-General's office and at the offices of Chief Surveyors in areas where the park is located.

If any land is added to or taken away from a national park or its special areas, the Chief Surveyor has to update the plans. Every plan and change to a plan must be certified by the Chief Surveyor to show it's official.

If you want a copy of any of these plans, you can ask the Chief Surveyor for one. They have to give it to you if you ask.

These certified plans, or copies of them, are considered good evidence of the boundaries and size of the national park or special area. This means they're trusted to be correct unless someone can prove otherwise.
