When a coroner wants to make a recommendation or comment under section 57A, you need to know they must tell certain people or organisations first. They must notify experts who gave evidence under section 76, other experts with an interest, and people or organisations the comment is about. The coroner gives them 20 working days to comment on the proposed recommendation or comment. The chief coroner records any comments made by these people or organisations in a register, as required under section 7(2)(e). The chief coroner can make these comments public without needing approval from the people or organisations who made them.
