Illustration for Coroners Act 2006

A coroner can let you take part in a hearing from somewhere else using audio or video links if they think it's fair. You can do this if the coroner agrees it's a good idea. The Courts (Remote Participation) Act 2010 will then apply to your case. The coroner will make a decision about whether to let you use audio or video links. They will consider what is fair and make a choice. The rules from the Courts (Remote Participation) Act 2010 will be used. You will be treated like you are in a normal court case if you use audio or video links. The coroner will be like a judge in a normal court. They will follow the same rules as a normal court.
