You can get permission to share details about a death. This permission is for when the Independent Police Conduct Authority or the Commissioner of Police want to share a report or an opinion about the death. They can share this information under the Independent Police Conduct Authority Act 1988. You are allowed to share details from these reports or opinions if they have already been made public. The Commissioner of Police can share their opinions or recommendations under section 27 or 28 of that Act. This means you can talk about the death based on what they have already shared. The permission also applies when someone shares details from a report or opinion that has been made public under the Independent Police Conduct Authority Act 1988. This is so you can discuss the death based on the information that is already out there. You can do this as long as you are sharing details that have been made public.
