Illustration for Retirement Villages Act 2003

The Registrar can suspend a retirement village's registration if they think it might mislead people. You might be misled by a registered document or the operator might not be following the rules. The operator might also not pay a required fee. The Registrar must tell the operator and the village's supervisor about the suspension. They must say why the registration is suspended and what the operator needs to do to fix it. The Registrar wants the operator to know what to do next. When a retirement village's registration is suspended, the operator must stop advertising it. The operator cannot let anyone move in while the suspension is in force. They must take steps to fix the problem so the suspension can be lifted.
