If you break certain rules in the Retirement Villages Act 2003, you can get in trouble. You might have to pay a fine if you do not follow the rules. The fine can be different depending on what you did wrong. If you are not a company and you break the rules, you can get a fine of up to $30,000 for some things, or up to $15,000 for other things, or up to $5,000 for other things. If you are a company and you break the rules, you can get a fine of up to $100,000 for some things, or up to $50,000 for other things, or up to $10,000 for other things. You can also get in trouble if you do not tell the truth when you are applying for something. The person checking the retirement village's accounts has to do what they are asked to do. The person running the retirement village has to do what they are asked to do. You can get a fine if you break any of the rules in the Act. You can get taken to court up to 3 years after you did something wrong.
