This page is about a bill. That means that it's not the law yet, but some people want it to be the law. It could change quickly, and some of the information is just a draft.

Fast-track Approvals Bill

Fast-track approval approvals process for eligible projects - Process for panel consideration of substantive application - Provisions relating to information

24K: Information held by relevant administering and local authorities that is sensitive to iwi or hapū

You could also call this:

“Protecting secrets of Māori communities when sharing information”

If a relevant administering agency or local authority has information that is sensitive to an iwi or hapū, and they have agreed to keep it confidential, they must follow special rules. Even though section 24J might say to share information, the agency or authority must keep the sensitive information secret. Before they share any of this information, they need to talk to the iwi or hapū first. They will discuss if any of the information can be shared, how it could be shared, and who it could be shared with. This helps protect information that is important to Māori communities.
