Fast-track Approvals Act 2024

Fast-track approvals process - Referral of project to fast-track approvals process - Steps if referral application accepted

27: Minister specifies matters for accepted referral application

You could also call this:

“Minister sets rules for big projects after accepting them”

When the Minister accepts a referral application for a project, they have to do a few things. First, they need to say who can send in the main application for the project. This will be the same person or people who sent in the referral application.

The Minister can also decide on some other things about the project. They can set limits on where the project can happen, how long it can last, or what parts of it can be done.

For the main application, the Minister might set a due date for when it needs to be sent in. They might also say what information needs to be included with it. The Minister can decide who else needs to be asked for their thoughts on the project, besides the usual people.

The Minister can say if there might be other applications competing with this one. They can also mention if there are already any permissions in place that are related to this project.

If the project involves swapping some land, the Minister can set a due date for that application too. They can say what information needs to be included with it, and who else needs to be asked about it.

All of these decisions help to make sure the project follows the right steps and gets looked at properly.
