Fast-track Approvals Act 2024

Fast-track approvals process - Panel consideration of substantive application - Suspension of processing substantive application

60: When processing of substantive application may be suspended

You could also call this:

“When the EPA can stop looking at your main request for a while”

You can pause the processing of a main application in four situations. First, the EPA can tell you to pause it. Second, the Minister can tell you to pause it. Third, you can ask the panel to pause it, and they might say yes. Fourth, if the EPA asks for advice about your application, they might pause it.

When the processing of your application is paused, the time it takes doesn’t count towards any deadlines set by the law. This means that if the law says something should take a certain number of days, the days when your application is paused don’t count towards that number.
