Fast-track approvals process - Steps before lodging substantive application - Preliminary step for application for mining permit

37: Mining permit information may be lodged with relevant chief executive

You could also call this:

“You can share mining permit details with the boss before applying”

You can give some information to the relevant chief executive before you apply for a mining permit for a listed or referred project. This is an optional step you can take before making your main application.

You can give the chief executive two types of information:

  1. Some specific details about the mining permit that are listed in another part of the law.
  2. Information about the project that is required for listed projects or was included in the referral application for referred projects.

You can only give this information if you have paid any fees or charges that are required.

If there is more than one person authorised to apply for the project, any one of those people can give this information on behalf of everyone.
