Fast-track Approvals Act 2024

Fast-track approvals process - Panel consideration of substantive application - Draft decisions on approvals

71: Panel provides draft conditions relating to aquaculture activities for recommendation

You could also call this:

“Panel writes rules for fish farming and sends them to the government”

This law is about what happens when someone wants to do aquaculture activities in the coastal marine area. Aquaculture is when you grow fish, shellfish, or plants in water.

If you apply for a special permit to do aquaculture, a group of people called a panel needs to look at your application. The panel has to write some draft rules about your aquaculture activities.

The panel must tell a government organisation called the EPA to send these draft rules to an important government official. This official is called the relevant chief executive. The panel needs to do this at the same time as they do some other things required by the law.

This process helps make sure that aquaculture activities are carefully considered before they’re allowed to happen in coastal areas.
