36Y: Application of subpart

“This part explains who the rules about auctions apply to”

This part of the law talks about auctions. It applies to two types of people who run auctions:

  1. People who are officially registered as auctioneers.

  2. People who work as auctioneers even if they’re not officially registered. These are people who regularly run auctions as part of their job.

The law uses a special definition of ‘auctioneer’ that you can find in another part of the law called the Auctioneers Act 2013. This definition helps decide who counts as an auctioneer, even if they’re not registered.
